A quiet place: day one
« on: June 28, 2024, 07:10:01 PM »
This one surprised me a bit.  A bit predictable but very well done.  Lupita Nyong'o really did a great job playing an emotional yet emotionless part.   The story is predictable given the first movies of the series so we already know aliens dropped in and took things over which makes it even harder to tell this kind of story. I blame it on the emotional support cat.  Worth a watch in the theater.

Saw it at the movie theater.  Thought it was good but was hoping for more background story.

Forgot how quiet things could get in the theater, made eating popcorn and snacks a little awkward as if something was going to jump out and grab you if you got too loud, haha.

I had a feeling this was one of those movies where if you saw the trailer you saw the whole movie, and the trailer wasn't even that compelling..

Snacks...every time I go to an AMC I end up near someone who brings in like a days worth of food and spends the whole movie unwrapping shit and being annoying.  :P

P.S. popcorn and nachos are the dumbest movie things ever but the profit margin on it is 4000% so there ya go.

It was OK.

I agree the lead actress did a good job.. and that it's better than the 2nd movie.. but I think this franchise is cached. If they do another one they need to mix things up a bit.

I guess my biggest problem is the premise is sooo stupid. It worked fine in the original movie but with each subsequent film it's just like c'mon.. kinda like the Matrix movies.

Anyway, I didn't hate it.

In the world of Jack, 'I didn't hate it' means it's going to win an oscar.

I don't think there's been a single oscar level movie yet this year, but i'm sure some thing only 10 people have ever seen will win

Best new movie I've seen this year is Inside out 2, a cartoon basically...

I think that says it all.  :P

Watched this tonight on Paramount +.
Reminded me of the old movie days...Escape From New York.
Funny how the aliens only targeted Manhatten and they don't like water a whole lot.
The special effects were good though.
The cat was a hoot and took the show.
Not one Meow!!! Good Cat!
