On top of all that, my sister and her husband moved to Ashville recently.

They're fine but had power out, no cell phone reception and other issues for days.

I can't get into any of my accounts either because of 2-factor authentication - we sent a code to your email, which you also can't get into! Makes this even more "fun". Can't move money around at the bank, etc, etc, etc.

There's already a huge pile of crap on the lawn that I've been dragging out for days. I REALLY don't want to pump water out of my parent's place again, assuming it survives at all.

Yeah MFA can be a pain in the ass sometimes.

Tough luck on Ashville.. I really feel bad for those people because at what point did you expect THAT to flood?

Hope everything works out for everyone but if this hits dead on.. Tampa isn't going to be the same.

I think the Gulf Stream might pull it a bit south of Tampa, but what do I know.
Good luck to all of you.

Currently in an amazingly dumpy hotel outside of Orlando with my folks. Only place that had rooms.
Among other issues - no room phones in this place, can't call room to room, or the front desk, etc.
Amazing, never seen that before - that's just one of many, many issues with this dump.
"Ramada by Wyndam", exit 55 on I-4 - it is to be avoided. It's not even cheap - $500+ for 4 nights.

Having said that I realize we've got it better than many - my parents house is 2-story so everything upstairs is (currently) fine. Milton may change that though. Our neighbors across the street, who aren't even on the water, have it worse - single story house so everything was ruined.

We've also got one working vehicle instead of zero.

Milton though... I thought the worst-case scenario was a powerful hurricane going right up the bay at high tide.

I underestimated reality.

Now we've got that potentially worst-case PLUS the ground is already saturated, the storm drains are all clogged with debris from Helene, and we've got all the piles of crap everyone had to put outside. Holy shit.

Really hope it turns away from Tampa and that my parents still have a home to go back to.

Can't even go stay with my sister since so many roads in and around Asheville are closed.

And now it's a category 5. Sigh...

I really didn't expect things to get worse after the flooding.

My Mom decided to evacutate before Helene, so my brother took her to a hotel in Lakeland. They cut it way too close, but it worked out and saved their car.

My Dad (82), on the other hand, wanted to stay at the house, so I figured I better stay with him for his own safety.

So after the flooding had started to recede, I went downstairs to asses the damage and immediately slipped and busted my ass/hip.
No major damage but my legs & ass are still sore now, and all the cleanup work didn't help.

I also got sick right after the flooding. Must have gotten exposed to something nasty. Had a fever for the next 3 or 4 days, and the runs, and my energy ran out after about 5 minutes of any activity.

So my Dad and I had to live in that for the next 2 days. The air quality is really bad, and the stench was revolting.
Once my brother got back and started helping with the cleanup he reported feeling sick, light-headed, etc. while having to breathe that crap too.

I'm recovering but it's slow as hell. I still sometimes start sweating profusely after much less effort than usual.

And now the TV doesn't even work in this shitty hotel room.

I'll stop complaining now, it's just that The Village is the only thing I can currently log into so it's my only way to vent.

I'm very sorry for everything.  It's all so heartbreaking to hear and know you and others are going through all of this.
I have friends off Bayshore that got flooded during Helena and were dealing with it all like you and now this?
It's devastating to so many.  I hope and pray you and many others are spared more suffering with this.
I wish I could give more comfort.

Many of us including myself are prepping now for Milton's approach.  I know many are concerned or scared and tired and just want it to stop.
Niloc, I hope you and your family are safe.

I hope everyone stays safe.  I'll try to keep everyone updated from Clearwater for as long as I can.  This one could get spicy.

are you riding it out over there?

Based on models, they show arrival of storm between Wed 6pm -> Thurs 9am , still between Sarasota ~ Clearwater I don't like overnight storms :(

Yep.  Staying home.  I'm in a no evacuation, no flood zone so the winds should be my only real problem.  Let's hope.

maybe we can just throw a semi truck of gas-x at it to stop all the wind.

They told everyone to evacuate where I ive in "Hawknoleville". Alas the hawk and I will carry the news for Port Charlotte North Port.
Some people really cant just up and go ,I know I cant.
But we will just have to grind it out and prey for the best, at least we dont live near the beach and Ive been here 23 years and we have never had flooding near me. Dont know about Hawkman.
Is it maybe, just maybe, possible, that I may have actually done something right for once? I have a brand new standbye generator installed 3 weeks ago. During the last canes adventure from Florida into Georgia and up to North Carolina we had a power outage for 14 hours. My new generac ran 14 hrs straight without a hiccup so got my fingers crossed,
Wish everyone bon chance, and stay inside, you dont really need to wander around in it.

75 is already jacked up with a pure traffic jam. if you aren't already gone, i wouldn't even attempt it...so many cars gonna run out of gas and sit there in gridlock:
