Anyone use Frontier with YouTube TV?
« on: November 07, 2024, 07:02:55 PM »
So Spectrum has been dogshit at my parent's place for years. They're not getting all the TV channels they pay for, and Spectrum is never able to fix the problem.
I suspect it's because they had a TIVO (with lifetime service) which required a cable card, and Spectrum seems to hate that, they want people to pay monthly for their DVR instead.

More recently, after the hurricanes, they've had no service at all and Spectrum doesn't seem to be in a hurry to do anything about it.

So I'm looking into other options for them - Frontier fiber optic is in their area, the internet options seem fine, they offer home phone service too, but the only TV option they've got is YouTube TV. The channel lineup looks OK, mostly the same as regular cable, but it's all digital and over the internet, uses up some/most of your bandwidth, etc.

Anyone used this and have opinions on how well it works, the "cloud" DVR they offer, etc.?

This is in the Tampa area but just outside the city limits. Hillsborough county.

There is a huge forum called https://www.dslreports.com/ that has a ton of members and forums for each cable provider, cell provider, fiber provider, etc, etc.      Also forums for each metro area, with lots of activity where you can see what others in that area are experiencing and what they have done to get results, etc.

Your question may have already been answered and you may see some other options.  When I had trouble with a provider in the past, that site was invaluable in helping me understand what was going on in my area and finding a resolution, and it was such a cool site I stuck around to participate and enjoy their many misc. forums.

Thanks, I tried the Reddit Tampa forum too and the response was mostly "Great internet service with Frontier, but terrible customer service if anything goes wrong." - Spectrum has crap service and non-existent customer service, so...

Few options in my parents area too, "real" cable TV is still a monopoly, so Frontier seems to be the only real option. Other than that it's 5G wireless, which isn't terrible but doesn't offer TV & home-phone options.
