Treasure Chest Claw Machine Help
« on: April 13, 2025, 11:09:27 AM »
Hello!

So I found a great deal on a fully working Treasure Chest Claw Machine from United Textiles. The guy plugged it in and it played perfectly. Came with keys and an operators manual so I thought great! This is awesome. I was smiling ear to ear. My face actually hurt after a while from smiling. My daughter was going to poop her pants with excitement.

I’ve got 3 hernias, so I was nervous about getting it into the back of the truck. For a fleeting moment I thought “maybe I ought to try to stand this up”, but that seemed impossible for me to lift, so I thought well, it’s a game, it’s build to be moved around, it’ll be ok, I’lll just make the 2 and a half hour drive carefully. Wrong I was. Got home and the entire carriage had fallen down. Ok, no biggie, open it up and pop it back into place. Keys don’t actually work in the locks…drill those out. Ok, it’s open. Pop the carriage back up, but wait…here’s a shield for the carriage that fell off. Ok, I can see where that goes. Then I see a large rubber O-ring sitting there that appears to have snapped or split. Ok…I have zero clue where that goes but I’m guessing it’s important.

I do have another larger Treasure Chest sitting here that has a dead board, so I’m thinking I can maybe open that one up and see if I spot it in a an obvious place and maybe even rob an intact O-ring from that game, but figured I would ask here first and see if anybody could say, oh yeah, that goes right there. And also maybe if anyone knows where to get a replacement because I assume this one isn’t supposed to be split like this.

Lesson learned, bring someone besides my wife to help lift and never transport a claw machine on it’s back. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m one O-ring away from fulfilling the dream! Thanks.

One of these belts from Pipeline Games should work. Probably the "smart" brand one.

When you replace the belt, double check your string on the claw that goes up and down. Make sure it’s on the correct pathway, not wound around the wheels wrong or whatever or it’ll tangle up and cause you another headache.

THANK YOU!!! I tried to rob one off of the other broken Treasure Chest I have here and it is just slightly too big but now I know what it is, where to get it, and where it goes! So, can’t tell you how much I appreciate it. It’s about time I head back up to the lounge so I’ll thank you in person soon enough! You think I should try to order a couple different sizes just in case? These machines are so similar I was a bit surprised when this other one was a bit too big. Either way, thanks again!

Thank you for the heads up! I definitely done want more headaches if I can avoid them. It appears to be wound properly still. Wouldn’t you say?

One more question. It has a working coin mech and bill validator but since this is in the home for the kiddos to enjoy, I’d like to have it on free play or have a push button for credits.

It came with a manual but I don’t see free play in the dip switch settings as an option. I’ve wired buttons up to arcade coin mechs in the past to add credits but this coin mech is different and has this connector with three wires. Anybody know how I might wire that to a button to easily add credits?

You're welcome!

Yeah you might wanna order a couple different sizes. Maybe if you call them they can let you know which one you need.

Claw string routing looks correct.

The connector on the coin comparator provides voltage, ground, and the credit wire. I don't remember which is which but I can look at one of mine later to find out. The credit wire is either white or yellow and then the other wire you need is the black ground wire. Just splice and hook up the button to those and you're all set!

YES!!!! Dude, Kurt, you are the MAN!! She LIVES!!! My daughter is off of school tomorrow. I cannot wait to see her face when she wakes up and sees this thing working!!

For posterity and the sake of anyone searching this forum in the future, I was able to measure the broken O-ring and deduce the proper diameter and thickness, and found basically a direct replacement on Amazon. Got it next day (today) and although it is MAYBE a HAIR thicker, it seems to work perfectly!

Here’s the link:

https://a.co/d/afmd0Zm

So then all I need is to wire in a button for credits, and this baby is all set how I want it. So, then I need a momentary push button, and I’ll just splice that right in. So I basically cut the ground wire and attach both ends of the cut wire to one terminal on the button, and then I do the same for the signal wire, right? Like it’ll just be that the button terminal is an interrupt of the wire but it still connects to the coin mech as it always did? I’m just interrupting the wire with the button?

Do I want a regular arcade like normally open button or do I want a like spring loaded momentary push button or does it matter? Sorry for all the questions!

If there’s any way you could look for me and let me know which wire is which, I would be very grateful!! I may have to buy you one of your own beers at the lounge! Haha!

Quite happy right now. Few things in life are as satisfying as powering up a game and having it back to working order!!! Never gets old!
