Wiring a credit button to a claw machine SG coin mech
« on: May 14, 2025, 04:55:50 PM »
Can anyone help me with this?  In fairness, I don’t know what I’m doing! Haha.

Looks like it is an SG coin mech. I cut the signal wire and the ground wire and hooked them up to a momentary switch. Didn’t work. Do I need to run the ground back to somewhere else or something? What did I do wrong?

I’d rather not have 7 year olds continually opening the service door to feed the same dollar through again and again and risk them touching something that ought not be touched! Thank you for any help!

That looks more complicated than an ordinary coin switch, its more of like a coin comparitor they use in slot machines. Its more electronic than mechanical.. id look for a test sw that says CREDIT or TEST above the coin box to see if theres a built in coin credit sw installed u can piggy back your wires off of...

Were you able to credit up the game using coins before this? If so, check your new wiring. If not, there is probably a problem downstream. Check the connectors downstream.

Need a closeup of the coin mech , especially where the plug connects and theres writing showing the pin outs.. If it doesnt use a mechanical microswitch with a bare metal wire on it for the coins to hit and uses optical switches thats ur problem..

This machine uses a coin comparator. Wiring a microswitch or momentary push-button works on them. The ground and credit signal wire are the ones you hook up, so it sounds like he's got it right.
