3 Body Problem
« on: April 29, 2025, 12:18:59 AM »
Anyone here watch Netflix's 3 Body Problem?

Just finished it and would like to hear others opinions.

It starts a little slow. My GF couldn't get into it but after Episode 1, it held my interest.
The first half hour may make you want to abort so stick with it.

I heard it got GREEN LIGHTED for a Season 2. It needs it!

I couldn't get through the slog.
Is it actually good or just slightly?

I enjoyed season 1 with its over the top Sci-Fi fun, and recommend it.  Not sure where season 2 will go, but season 1 is fun it you like that genre.

Just haven't gotten to it yet.

It's hard to invest time in something when it's so likely to be cancelled, then seasons with few episodes that often vanish for years at a time while the next season is being made, then they don't even bother with a "previously on" segment when you haven't seen a new episode in 3 years.

I watched it when it first came out on Netflix and then rewatched all 8 episodes the last few nights.
The opening scene in China is brutal and will make most want to tune out. It was hard for me to get thru the first episode.
My GF bailed on it. It was starting to slow for her..

To be honest I would give it 5.8 when I first watched.

The second time thru it, I missed a lot that made sense and enjoyed it more. I'd give it a 8.4 now.

There area lot of special effects that rival major motion picture effects in later episodes (like 4-9, esp episode 8).
The only reason I rewatched it was I saw that Season 2 was going to be done and nothing else online was drawing me in.

I found it to be pretty good sci-fi. Worth the time and commitment to watch (for me).

Glad someone here has watched Season 1.
There are a lot of different directions they can go with Season 2 for sure.
Saul sure doesn't want to be one of the 3 Wallfacers.
The converted tanker "Judgement Day" scene going thru Panama canal was absolutely crazy.

The physics they used to try to reach light speed for the rocket to reach the San-Di are laughable but it's fun to watch nontheless.

This is one of the best scifi series in a long time,  give it a few episodes until you get what's going on big picture.

FYI, for those that do not know at first, like me, the title of the show, "3 Body Problem" is not about some guy with acne, erectile dysfunction and bad breath.

It's about solving an issue for an alien race 400 light years away that wants to wipe out Earth.
They get wiped out every 400 years when 3 celestial bodies align just so.

The title is so weird for such an excellent sci-fi show it made me not want to watch it at first.
