The mission is to educate the history, art, and science of arcade, pinball, and early computers through local events.

I fix things.. all the things.. but you have reach out first to see how my queue looks. ( all things arcade/pinball/computer ) ... do not do house calls, repairs are generally live streamed on twitch.

SFGE had energy drink company's passing drinks out.
Is it hard to get those kind of sponsors?

Venue has restrictions on food/beverage(s).

Most Venues require the Vendor to be an approved vendor, ie, The Venue get's a cut of the $$ ..

Being a Sponsor is one thing, but when they provide Food or Drink, the Food or Drink has to be approved by the Venue.

SPF had an awesome setup at the Maitland Center back in the day, as they Allowed SPF to run the Food Concession under the Food Permit for the Civic Center.

We have tried every year to get some food vendor, trucks, sponsors out, but all the Venues pretty much said "no" , Billy's Popcorn was also a pretty "grey" area and caused us a lot of rift with the hotels.

In 2021 The Venue did have Wild Bill's Soda as an approved Vendor , but quickly pulled them from being approved so we couldn't use them in 2022.

in response to:  PinballKraken  on: "Or reach out to local gamer lounges or such that do tournaments and other local events for fighting games, smash"

So, I think we already have that covered with Gamers on the Edge for Modern stuff, but I think what bjones was eluding would be having some cool old school tournaments, like "who can get the highest score on Pitfall on the Atari 2600"

I do not know of local gamer lounges there was one in Orlando Next to Beth's Burger's but it, well shut down and closed up shop, let alone any that would have any tournaments based on games prior to 2010.

I do plan on trying to get a series of Apple II's setup for more Oregon Trail tournaments.. But need to figure out a way to run it, I have tried a few different methods each year, and they all have resulted in low turn out, or 1 person paying and winning, but 50 people practicing.

I didn't delete anything either.  I say repost your comment.

I remove Spammers... Not posts.

who touched the chips? who deleted the message?.. it's all very mysterious and need to know now.  :P

I may make it down for it this year...

I think just focus on a few things and don't try and be everything to everyone. People will bitch no matter what you do cause its easy to complain if you don't have any skin in the game. Show was fine any years I went....

Oh and "E-sports" is the dumbest name for anything ever.  :-X

Tufnel, that's what we are trying to do this year.   We just can't be all things, there's 100 cons a year to do that but only one FPF so we are definitely focusing first and foremost on the unique things only we do and focus on the fun.  I've seen it everywhere, the 'gigundization' of everything waters down the whole and it all just becomes a cattle farm, we're fine just putting on the best electronic gaming event we know how for our community and still keep our normal lives and day jobs :)

This.

I think $$$/airfare/hotel funds would be better spent on 1, 2 or 3 pinball company guests rather than video game voice actors only 7 people know. Not dissing their resume, I just don't see the return on that investment. Seems like a lot of new pinball designers/coders are in the 25-35 age range? I would think they'd be quite giddy to be invited.

If ya want pinball specific guests that's exactly why i'm asking who you want to see. Who is engaging and of interest these days that we should try for and does anyone have decent contacts for them?  We are working on that area, but really need to know what people want to see.  Prefer younger up and comers or classic legends, programmers, artists, designers?  There's hundreds of people now in the PB industry, help us narrow the field and get the right ones you all want to hear from most!

And I totally understand video game voice actors may not resonate with pinball folks, but millions know the voice of GlaDos and we need the video game enthusiast attendees too!  The goal is a well rounded guest list with a little something for every classic gaming enthusiast, what's been announced so far is just the beginning of getting back to our roots.

Anyone from any pinball company. Again, I'm thinking once the word gets out at any company you'd have more peeps than you can handle willing to be guests.

RE: GlaDos, I have no clue wtf that is from that show, but if the voice actor will bring in just ONE million guests then it's win/win.

even though it's bottled and packaged, outside food and drink become a liability to that premises if someone gets sick and blames it on them.  It's kind of indefensible and It makes sense, and usually isn't completely about them getting a "cut", but im sure that matters a bit too.

We made a system (inspired i think by Kurt TPL, i think...) that has a QR code on every game that sends the log to a tech list that can run down the list of every game repair and each tech can resolve and notate repair.  It's more comprehensive better interface than a google form/doc and would maybe help you guys streamline tech repairs, and maybe even auto-notify  email or text the owner (in cases like militiaman, where they are the only ones who want to fix the game). @Hammy / @pr0k glad to demo it for you-- if it makes sense, can make a specific version for FPF.

Everything being discussed is great.  This is always a balancing act, what to do, what not to do, etc. and the input is appreciated!  I also hope some who are not privy to how all of these pieces come together, now have a better understanding of all of the hurdles we jump successfully and sometimes trip on as well.  It is very complicated and expensive pulling this off, and it's nice knowing we got the collector community backing us up! :)

We have had some pinball glitteriety over the years with mixed results.  These guys go to lots of shows all year long all around the country so by November I imagine there is some burnout.  We would love to have a pinhead or two this year, so make some suggestions and we can see if we can make it happen.

As for selling tickets, that too is a balancing act when we discuss who to bring to the show and if there is a good ROI.  This is a non-profit, so money needs to be spent wisely.  And, as you know, people need to buy tickets for the show to exist.  We will always keep this show 'home grown' for the collector but need to make decisions that do bring in money.  Portions of our attendees get in for free(game donation) so we need some guests that bring in the people who wouldn't normally come.
