Gravitar Is Coming!
« on: April 19, 2010, 07:17:47 PM »
I ended up using uship and found a company called Ironwolf that is handling the shipping. The seller said they wraped it in shrink then used cardboard all the way around. The cool thing is that they documented the game with pictures of the existing damage and e-mailed the pics to me. I just hope it arrives in the same condition.

I just had to try my hand at posting pics here since I had never done it before. They're freaking huge!  ;D

Good deal, sounds like you found a good company that knows what they're doing.  It's nice that they document the existing damage as well.  How's the shipping price?

BTW, I can kinda see Gravitar in those pics....mostly looks like the surface of the moon since they're so damn huge! :)

Lmao! $350 from Illinois to my shop in Bonita. That doesn't seem too bad. They said I would have it Wednesday or Thursday. I so hope it makes it without any damage.

They did a better job noting the damage then the seller did.  ;D http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290421751100&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
He says the only damage is the spot on the front.

Well, that already has saved some headaches then seeing things the seller didn't document.  Otherwise, you would have got it and seller says "It must have happened in shipping"...and you have battle with shipper.  Again, looks to be an experienced shipper if they're documenting things, as to avoid just that situation. Price is just a little cheaper than NAVL (I thought last quote I got from them was around $380), but probably worth it anyway to have someone to handle it a little more carefully rather than roll the dice with whoever happens to be subcontracted by NAVL.  Congrats!

LMAO...would that be a Greywolf dressed in an Iron Man costume?  Or maybe Iron Man's foe in the next IM movie? :)

$60 to deliver from Jeff's to Wesley chapel, (which is 30 miles from my house) when you were going to be at both places anyway, is not.

$350 from Illinois to Bonita Springs is a good price.

And there it is  ;D

Yeah...and the pin was going how far? 100 miles! Diesel fuel is how much? $3.19 per gallon. I'm how far from Tampa? 120 miles. I gotta get home somehow, right? Nevermind the time it takes me to load and unload...and rearrange the truck.

Whatever.

whatever makes you feel better.,

I asked if you could grab, since you would be at going to be in both places.. and you already were making the trip, i wasn't asking you to go out of your way... you were not doing a full delivery.

fyi, your 100mile trip should of cost you $16.00 in gas if your sprinter is only getting 20mpg (they claim it gets 25mpg, but that's on a perfect day, 0 wind resistance, and a constant speed of 55mph)

and my apologies if you feel busted your balls, as i don't know if your snide remark was towards me ( as i feel it was ), or if was towards someone else, if it was towards some other person, then maybe you should reconsider your pricing structure,.

but in all it doesn't really matter does it? you failed to call me when you were in Orlando, and sid offered to haul back to clw for free.

Well, my comment was directed to anyone in particular...but seeing as how you jumped at the chance, apparently you took issue. I gave you a fair price for me to put my hands on the game, and you said you'd do it yourself...I didn't know I was supposed to call you and beg you to let me do it for free. I was supposed to grab those cabinets for Mick from prOk that day, but they weren't finished...something I WAS doing for Brian, but that doesn't concern you.

First, you were asking me to move a pin...much like everyone else I move pins for. Where I am before and after the delivery, is nobody's business...it's about moving a game from point A to point B. Each delivery is priced accordingly. If I ran around the state all weekend doing this for $16 a game, I'd stop doing it before I left the driveway. And it isn't just the fuel cost...it's my time, vehicle wear-and-tear, tires, oil change, insurance, etc. The government says roughly $.45/mile...you do the math.

If I run from home to pickup a pin from Orlando and deliver it to Tampa and come home, I burn a tank of gas. A tank of gas is $80. So I gotta charge that person at least $100. That pretty much makes 8 hours of my time worth $20. You wanna do it for me?

So...the theory is, if I get 2 people in on the route and charge $60/game, both people save and I feel like my time is worth something. I don't feel I'm gouging people here...and most of the time I'd rather be at home working on MY games. I feel I've met a lot of nice collectors this way, and I think most people are satisfied with my rates...I'm sorry you are not. Most people think it's great that they can do whatever they need to do around the house on a given Saturday, and I show up with their new pin/vid for $60. But since you were going to Jeff's with Mick anyway, I guess that makes that aspect pointless. You and one other member are the only people that have ever said that $60/game was out of line...and that's fine...you don't have to use my service. I'm not Santa Clause, nor do I claim to be.

I appologize to the community that has to read this...it's not my intent to alienate anyone. I simply chose this opportunity to explain where my pricing comes from. And since most people on USHIP.COM aren't gonna do anything for under $100, I think I'm being pretty fair since I've been moving games for over 20 years.
