Since there is a poll going on of collector's top 5 picks of machines that do exist, What would be your list of titles that you would have liked to see come to light? I haven't put a whole lot of thought into it, but I could think of at least 20 right off the cuff. But I'll cut that list down to 10 (subject to change in the future).
1. A Nightmare Before Christmas: This has become a huge cult movie and 17 years later, it is still a merchandise war machine. It had fantastic artwork and characters. Endless possibilities!
2. Motley Crue: Yes, I know Iron Maiden would make a nice looking machine because of the great album artwork. But Motley Crue was the biggest hard rock band of the 80's, the decade of decadence. And they are still going strong today. The band changed a little with every album, along with the music. Instead of a pinball machine that embodies their entire career, you could pick just one album. Shout at the Devil- Theatre of Pain- Girls Girls, Girls- Dr. Feelgood, etc. Any one of them would be cool. Hey, if they can put out a Guns N' Roses pinball, we can have a Crue pin too!
3. Tombstone: Great friggin' movie. The Earps and Doc Holiday! The gunfight at the OK Corral! The translight with the four of them walking to the fight (as pictured in the movie poster! Would have made a great machine.
4. Men in Black: This pinball would feature both films. That pretty much goes without saying. I can totally picture this one in my head. Perfect theme for a pinball machine.
5. True Blood: Could work! We have the Soprano's don't we? Another HBO series.
6. The Warriors: So I am going back a little, o.k., all the way back to the 70's. But here is another cult classic. Translite could be pretty cool, also with the "Warrior" title sprayed out in graffiti. Remember the Baseball Fury's?!!!!
7. KISS Reunion: Yes, another Kiss. We've had 3 Playboy's, 2 Simpson's, 3 Star Trek's, etc. Besides, this was a pretty big deal in the world of rock when the 4 original members (Gene, Paul, Peter & Ace) got back together.
8. Zombieland: we need a good zombie/comedy type pinball. I think this would translate well to a pinball machine.
9. "The Mask" or "Ace Venture": Not sure if these would work or not. If one of them had to come to light, I think "The Mask" would be the one.
10. War of the Worlds: I am talking about the remake with Tom Criuse. The tripods were bad ass, and that fog horn sound they made was just eerie. My #10 choice was originally "Avatar", but since that one almost came to light, it doesn't count. Iron Man and Family Guy would have been on this list if they weren't already out. I own them both and I can say they lives up to all expectations!
11. The Munsters: I know I said it was just going to be a list of 10, but I couldn't control myself. Picture this pinball in just black and white or sepia, the way it was on TV. That would be totally different and it would look great. I don't think it would work if it was in color.
Well, that's the list for my DMD machines. Titles that would be worth mentioning for early solid state machines cira 1978 to 1981 would be "The Dukes of Hazzard", "Welcome Back Kotter", "Grease" , "Starsky & Hutch", "Heavy Metal" the movie", etc.
You guys don't have to list 10 like I did, but I am curious to see what you guys come up with! Well this was fun. I probably should have gone to bed an hour ago! See ya!
