Hurricane day, Time to clean pins.
« on: August 19, 2008, 03:53:47 AM »
It is 3 A.M. here in W.P.B. and the dam winds woke me up and sat. is gone, so what to do. Pinball!!  No, can't focus.  Looks like kids are at home today, pusses.  We went to school in 80 MPH winds and liked it!  Lots of rain you all, be ready.   Can I legally make the kids clean the pins, I was looking forward to a quiet day at work, not a rain day off. They got 3 months off, all I got was a messy house. I think a little forced-labor will be good for them. I was sooo looking forward to dropping them off at school today.

Same here, had kids and wife home all simmer and all I got was a messy house.  Got everyone back into school mode yesterday (including wife as she is a teacher) and now they are off for the next two days!  Ontop of that, water heater went out last night, so no hot water.  Fay, take me away!

Hey,

give them some beer and whiskey, that should quiet 'em down.

...or it might at least work for you guys. :)

I put mine to work on Funhouse yesterday.  A shop job and new IPB plastics and protectors (I made her take all the blue wrap off of the plastics for me).

Boy, what a difference those new plastics made, the whites are actually white!

I walked 20 miles to school in a blizzard. Winds were 180 mph. The candy store was closed because of no power, so I could not play pin that day. LI, NY. Circa 1970.

My dogs are helping me clean pins today. I spray whipped cream on the plastics!

Wife wont help.

If you are smart, tell them the storm is coming and lock them in the closet.

We bought a $34,000 generator.  Only after we bought it did we realize it was built into a motor home - almost an oldie but a real goodie RV.  So we're bickering about whether or not to flee South tomorrow morning in the bus or, as she puts it, "hunker down".  The house is blowing away like in the WoZ but we'll just hunker down and play pinball.

Latest predicted track shows storm center passing over our house.  Good news is projected track two days ago showed the storm center passing over our house from a completely different direction.

Maybe we'll hunker down and play pinball if she buys enough beer - otherwise it's me and the motor home - maybe I can drop in on and meet Thomas - RV has a very long extension cord.

Post to Ya'll Later if We're Still on the Planet.  Now you in W.P.B. can sit back and watch us have all the fun.

It didn't even rain here today, just sprinkled a little bit. There was a bit more wind than normal, but nothing amazing.

Oh well.. we don't exactly get a lot of 'snow days' down here so I'll take Tropical Storm/Hurricane Scare day, we deserve it or something. :)

Well this was a bust, I have been through worse storms that crept up out of the Gulf.  Just a lot of rain and some gusts.  It is going to gain strength over land? I think the weather girl was drinking on the job.  I never can understand how we pay these people so much to be wrong MOST of the time.  Well I am just glad there were no serious injuries, except for the wind surfer that kissed the condo. Hope he pulls through.

I don't know Jim, it was 60MPH after the Keys and turned to 65 over S. Fla.

Weird!

"Well I am just glad there were no serious injuries, except for the wind surfer that kissed the condo. "

I SAW that story, so know what you're talking about.  I looked at Linda and neither can believe how UTTERLY STUPID people can be. Right up there with "Hey, looks like a hurricane, let's go swimming in the ocean!". (For those that missed the story,  guy decides to go kite sailing in the storm, wind grabbed him and the kite and first threw him into the sand for a tumble, then whipped him like 50 yards into the side of a building.  Last I heard they said he'll live...but in critical condition).

I agree with Jim though, all hype and freaking people out for a week for just a lot of rain, and a bit of wind.  Hell, in Ohio it used to rain for a week straight...jeez.  F#$ing newscasters just latch onto a story and freak everyone out.
