Creature Hunting!
« on: November 17, 2010, 08:19:48 AM »
I got a response off from RGP yesterday on a Creature. A real nice one. LED's already installed (although I would probably change the color scheme a bit). What's cool about this one is that it has the tail lights, moon and Starlight sign LED package on the backbox. This is not the one Pinball Pimp is working on. There was a company that did a batch of these a few years back and have since gone out of business. This is exactly what I wanted to do with mine. It also has a pulsating green and blue plunger lane. The game is suppose to be beautiful. I have other pics. The guy wants to do a trade, but the catch is, he is out of state. He travels a lot, but won't be down to Florida until early January. So the deal is not set in stone and we talked about me keeping my options open for another CFTBL. But if I still have Avatar in a month and a half, we are going to move forward. We talked about me selling my machine and having his shipping, but because of all his traveling with his job in the next month, it really isn't going to work out. I'm a man of little patience so we'll see how this plays out. There may not be another CFTBL locally between now and then, but if there is, I'm going to keep my options open. I love those tail lights though! Come on Jeff! Get that project done!

P.S. The second picture is a larger one to see more detail. The machine has two broken plastics. Not a big deal to fix.

The biggest issue will probably be the hologram. Make sure it is a quality you like.  I know there are repros, and "greenup kits" etc.

I think you said you had a CFTBL before, you probably know everything to look for.

Good luck with your deal :)

Uggh those LEDs look absolutely horrible. Totally kills the look of that game.

So basically you are looking at $4K for a Creature and you have to wait till January to get it?

Does not sound like a screaming deal to me. I suggest you be patient.

If the issue is getting rid of Avatar while the selling is good...just sell it now and set your money aside.

Just my views...

I agree, don't be impatient.

If he's on the east coast there is someone who does regular runs who may be able to do the swap before January.

I think led's in pins look horrible.. I tried it in a couple of my pins, and they just make my eyes hurt after awhile.. Having a couple in hidden places is fine, But if I'm playing the game for a long period, no way I want my games decked out with LED's like that.

Me too...I know a lot of people love them and I try to keep my mouth shut about it. But those Creature pictures were so nasty, I almost threw up in my mouth. To ruin a beautiful game like that is such a shame -- not to mention the playability like you mentioned. I agree they are blinding when used throughout an entire game. Kind of like playing AFM with the strobe light going on through the entire game. It's madness I say!

I got to admit, I don't like the LED's in that either.  IMO, some pins just need a few if any.  Total LED meltdown on a pin is just not that attractive to me. BUT, to each his own.

Good luck Kelley, I am sure you will get a great Creech!!

I agree with you guys. The led's are too much, that's why I said I would be changing them a bit, quite a bit actually. what I really liked was the back box taillights. I may just sell the Avatar so I have cash in hand. We'll see what happens.

LEDs look nice under SOME types of inserts and can really make the insert colors pop.  People go overboard with them on the GI.  They pulse, making the ball movement look choppy and wash out the artist's choice of coloring and detail on both the playfield and the plastics.  Not sure why people think that this looks so great.

creature's an awesome looking game and LED overkill is a simple fix.

i'm a LED whore, but it's a fine line and those pics do cross it in my opinion. that is some pretty intense lighting...are they 4+1s? ultrabrite's wouldn't cover such a broad range.

I too agree that it is too many LEDs.  I do like them under some inserts though!

The one Pimp did for CPR should be available soon...

from http://www.classicplayfields.com/updates.html

"CFTBL speaker panels underway, soon to be available in 3 versions - standard, LED-modded, and mirrored/LED-modded."

Pretty stoked for this mod.  Probably will get the regular LED one, but wondering how the mirrored / LED will look? ???
