Never played one, but know of an unused one sitting in the backroom of a smoky bar in St Pete.

Have owner's info if you're interested, pm me.

I had one of the parker bohn games.  It is a game that is difficult to keep in working order.  I enjoy those traditional puck bowler games,  but found the parker bohn game to be unenjoyable.  The gameplay is poor, and parker bohn is so smug and annoying in his color commentary,  you want to turn the volume off.  But i suppose if you can get it cheap enough...  Hard to move that game, physically and sales-wise.  Jon

Having both played and worked on this beast, I agree with Jon wholeheartedly...the Parker Bohn III shuffle alley is a polished piece of poo! I rarely say this but in dealing with Puck bowlers, buy either electromechanical or solid state. NO SHUFFLE ALLEY THAT RUNS THROUGH A PC IS WORTH DIDDLY-POO!!!

A longtime customer was asking us about getting a shuffle.  We have had lots of WMS ss shuffles, but never one of these newer style ones. I bowled a couple frames on one it seems like 10 years ago, when they first came out , but have never had one in the shop.

It seems to get the knock from a lot of operators, but I 'd like to hear from the local guys down here, especially if they owned one or spent any time on one. I remember it as looking fairly nice, but hearing that it has a lot of maintenance and quality issues.

I'm from Ohio, but I spent 5 weeks setting up this arcade:

http://www.spaceodysseyusa.net/

About 3 months after it was finished, the owner offered to buy us out of the games contract. It was a really cool place, but since they weren't open every day it didn't seem like their business model would work. We had about 80 pieces, paintball, & 4 bowling lanes...all on card-readers. This was back in 2005...and they're still open, so what do I know.  :)

Actually, although I am an op tech now...I was the local distributors shop tech when they came out. I must have uncrated and checked about 25 of them, and out of those 25, I'd say about 7 needed major repairs / replacement of parts out of the box, and at least another 10 came back from test unsold and hung around the shop for a while waiting to be sold on the used list. The rest that stayed out I couldn't say, but I know they weren't very well received, as a number came in as trade-ins. We eventually stopped taking them.

I could see why ops don't like them, we hate tough service calls. Now if your customer has deep pockets and doesn't mind paying someone to come out and work on it perhaps multiple times, or maybe even having to scrap it due to lack of access to old computer parts (cough, Need 4 Speed original, Pin2000, Slide-It, cough) then I'd say go for one. Otherwise, I'd stay far, far, far, away.

These recreations of classic games often fall short of matching the original concept in playability and product quality.

Years back in NJ we signed on to distribute "Ten Strike" mannequin bowling games.  They were being sold by a company in Florida and I believe they were being manufactured China or Asia somewhere.  Did you ever play one of these re-pros?

The originals were bringing big bucks in restored condition. I think our wholesale on a brand new in the crate re-pro game was about $ 3,500- at the time.

While the game looked nice and very much like the original, the computer and "new" style scoring was weak.  Also there were numerous mechanical issues with the floor model we had set up in the showroom.

The unit we had also had damage either from shipping , or in the factory that passed it through quality control.

We took loads of picks and mailed them to the manufacturer who for their credit were stand-up guys and promptly had someone pick up the game back from us.

Then there was some other crappy game that came out that was called something like "Slide-It" or something.  And you slid this puck down a shortened alley and it went under this shelf and there was a monitor above that showed the pins getting knocked down...  A kind of shuffle alley / Pinball2000 hybrid.  It really sucked as a game and they were always broken as well.  I'm sure any ops here would remember that dog of a game.

That hunk of junk "felt" nothing like a Wms Alley Cat or Shuffle Inn.

Those late 80's and early 90's Wms shuffles were the best! (In my opinion anyhow)..

Last time I was at Tampa Lanes there was a Strike Master or League Champ DMD shuffle alley there...

Sadly, sitting broken next to the bar.

Don't know if it's still there.  If it is, might be worth an inquiry.

Also, one of the Jax guys got one from me a couple of years back... don't remember who, but someone from up that way.

Also, also... if  you feel like a road trip...

I played the PBIII shuffle at Magical Midway on International Drive in Orlando about 4-5 years ago. It had a fairly authentic feel, but the theme was kind of cheesey. Parker is a stand up bowler and a nice guy, but I don't think that his personality is the right fit to fit a theme around. They should have picked someone more charismatic like Pete Weber -who's antics got the PBA loads of publicity outside of the bowling crowd around the time that PBIII's shuffle alley came out.

I also think that nostalgia is important when it comes to most games. A DMD on a shuffle alley is cool but a monitor with videos and stuff is not necessary and maybe overkill.

Wanna buy my Tic Tac Strike? PM me and i'll give you the details...

Sorry, an old thread but I just picked up one of these. Parker Bohn III ShuffleAlley

It played fine until someone jammed a bunch of coins in it.  Now it boots to a "check coin box" error.

I don't have the space so I'll be letting it go quick and CHEAP!

Price goes up once I get it fixed.  Located in Ocala 6 miles off I-75.  PM me if you are looking for one.
