Defender Upright $200

What's a working Defender going for these days? I have a semi-working one and I'm not sure if it should be restored, parted out, etc.

The monitor works but the contrast doesn't get very dark. Control panel looks good. The joystick is sloppy. The sound is out, but I'm working on that.

Let me know.

It's probably worth fixing up as it is one of the "desirable" collector games.  You can get a joystick rebuild kit to tighten it up so it's like new.  They go for a tad more than a Joust or Stargate, but less than Robotron... rough range $350-550 according to Exidy's collector price guide.

+1 on the price estimate. they'll get a bit more on eBay, but it's a bad market to sell vids in nowadays. PM'd.

It's a decent cabinet on this thing. Some scratches here and there. I can't decide if I should restore or just sell it as-is. I'm more of a pinball guy so the obsession to work on it isn't as strong.

The game is playable without sound. The CP and marquee are nice, the front bezel is nice. I cleaned the black monitor surround and it looks great. Things it would need: key lock, t-molding, light bulb, joystick rebuild, buttons, monitor cap kit (that's a guess, colors are faded, particularly black), back board for the cabinet, cab repair to the right trim that keeps the back board from falling into the cab, and the sound board fixed.

All the voltages are good on the sound board, and there is slight static on the speaker when the pot is turned up so the amp circuit is good. Just no game sound. Probably one of the larger ICs or the EPROM chip is bad. But, I'm guessing.

All the voltages are good on the PSU, except 6.3v AC that's used for the coin door lights.

So, what's it worth now?
