As of this morning, Florida still does not have the field of 24 filled. There are still a few people who have not said they are playing at the Florida SCS.
IFPA states even those who might be alternates have to declare they are playing.
It will say COMMITTED TO ATTEND if below the cut line.
It happens. Sometimes people last minute can’t show and they move down the list. BUT YOU HAVE TO BE ON THE LIST.
Contact IFPA directly.

Yes, that’s possible. It’s not uncommon for 2 or 3 alternates to be present just in case. Kurt will probably be there by default since the Championship is at the Pinball Lounge. :)

And of course Lee has the option of playing in Georgia or Florida.
-
So there is hope for me!
256 Bill Stillwell Brandon, FL

Yes, if you register as committed to attend. 😀
-
Lee M. chose Georgia.
Cut line just moved and 1st round pairings just changed.
-
Only one decision left. I texted Steve Marsh and he is aware of the deadline and will make his decision later today. So, the brackets are almost set, barring no-shows on the day of the event. Good skill to all.
-
Hey Ron can I register? I think I have like 2/5 of a point or something but theoretically could I register? just wondered. Thx
-
You could commit to attend, but as a practical matter you would not be able to play, as your ranking would not put you in the top 24 of those who registered. So, you could commit, but it would not make much sense to do so. To be clear, I am in the same boat as you, albeit a little higher on the list.
As a practical matter. They send out invitations going down the list by order of points until they get a full field of committed players plus some alternates. People that are well below that line would not receive an invitation unless there were a lot of higher ranked players who declined their invitations, for whatever reason.
-
Yes, the invitations typically go out to about the top 20-25 in most states and 30ish in the Super States which take 24 players unless there is a massive influx of non-locals on the list like say, Pennsylvania which is the state that hosts Pinburgh.
For the most part the list will extend slightly beyond the top 16 or 24 to account for alternates who can play in the event someone doesn't show day of event.

All true. I did receive a formal invitation and declined for personal reasons. So the list went down as far as #34 at least.

Is there an official list yet?
You son of a bitch I’m in.

I posted a picture of the bracket showing first round matchups and paths on the Florida Tournament Pinball page. I have a hard time posting pictures here.

Bracket:

If I fill it in correctly do I win something? :)

Hmmm. Las Vegas odds? :)

Al, will be calling it an early night after two rounds, same with Jeff.
Nick will be waiting around a long time only to be knocked out in the semi finals.
Eric Stone goes home as raining champ.
The rest didn't have a chance.
only saving grace is Jeff takes out Eric Stone in his second round.

I like how Eric Stone would be the "raining" champ! A great play on words. But will he reign or will someone rain on his parade?
I am actually going to fill this out and keep it off to the side. I will let you know how well I did after it is all over.
[Anyone curious? Reach out to me!]
-
Any way you slice it, there are going to be some good matches.
Nick is defending the title, and along with Brian, Eric S. and Jeff P. are also looking to catch Atticus as a 2-Time State Champion.
Lots of FTP veterans looking for that first title.
Lots of people playing SCS for the first time.
First time we have an out-of-towner joining us
Lots of fun to be had !!
Looking forward to it :)
-
Norma, you never know... Rain or Reign.. or maybe someone will Rain on his Reign and be crowned a new champion.
-
Post your bracket Norma, Would love to see your predictions Babee!!!!!

Yeah, we all have our favorites, but I'm not going to fill out a bracket and show anyone who I think might win any particular match :)
I will say I am really interested in watching a few particular matches :)
-
i see a few favorites in there, but nobody beats a chris. so #24 chris better bring the whole thing home. :)
good play for all 24. have fun and whoop some azz. ;D

so does this same type of tournament take place in every state and/or every AREA that can support a tourney?
Like in New York, is there just one tourney for the whole state?
If you win at this level where is the next level? is it like Southeastern or Mid Atlantic and then Northern Pacific, like that?
Dave wants to know.

On January 18, a State Championship is held for all participating States and Provinces in Canada. There is one per state.
The winner of each State/Province earns the right to play at Nationals in March.

Oh, why not just offer a puzzle instead of a bracket... :)
At last, exhale, you've joined the dance!
Save every ball because it's your last chance!
Every jewel shines, one brighter than three!
Now I know who the winner will be!
