Registration for SCS closes today at 8pm CST
« on: January 07, 2020, 08:26:27 AM »
As of this morning, Florida still does not have the field of 24 filled.  There are still a few people who have not said they are playing at the Florida SCS.

IFPA states even those who might be alternates have to declare they are playing.
It will say COMMITTED TO ATTEND if below the cut line.

It happens. Sometimes people last minute can’t show and they move down the list. BUT YOU HAVE TO BE ON THE LIST.

Contact IFPA directly.

Yes, that’s possible. It’s not uncommon for 2 or 3 alternates to be present just in case. Kurt will probably be there by default since the Championship is at the Pinball Lounge. :)

And of course Lee has the option of playing in Georgia or Florida.

Only one decision left.  I texted Steve Marsh and he is aware of the deadline and will make his decision later today.  So, the brackets are almost set, barring no-shows on the day of the event.  Good skill to all.

You could commit to attend, but as a practical matter you would not be able to play, as your ranking would not put you in the top 24 of those who registered.  So, you could commit, but it would not make much sense to do so.  To be clear, I am in the same boat as you, albeit a little higher on the list.

As a practical matter. They send out invitations going down the list by order of points until they get a full field of committed players plus some alternates.  People that are well below that line would not receive an invitation unless there were a lot of higher ranked players who declined their invitations, for whatever reason.

Yes, the invitations typically go out to about the top 20-25 in most states and 30ish in the Super States which take 24 players unless there is a massive influx of non-locals on the list like say, Pennsylvania which is the state that hosts Pinburgh.

For the most part the list will extend slightly beyond the top 16 or 24 to account for alternates who can play in the event someone doesn't show day of event.

All true. I did receive a formal invitation and declined for personal reasons. So the list went down as far as #34 at least.

I posted a picture of the bracket showing first round matchups and paths on the Florida Tournament Pinball page.  I have a hard time posting pictures here.
