What things to ADD to a possible GameWarp in 2012?

I'd put $50 to get Tron Guy to GameWarp

He has no qualms about doing advertisements:

I really don't think much more has to be done for GW next year. More/different games is always a good thing, but there were plenty of great games in excellent shape this year.

Maybe evolve the tournaments next year and have a fun/quick one like this year and a more complex/expert one that runs in succession with it.

Panels were good and it'd be nice to see more of them.

Exchange live music for a late night DJ/lights off time (like 9P-Midnight is 80's music with low lights).

Still, it's hard to improve on a successful event. I think next year just needs more promotion, but having one year under the belt will help out a lot with that.

I agree, I don't think you need to mess with it too much as this year was really good.

I do like the idea of a more elaborate tournament where you can play a full game of pinball (or video game).  Maybe even more cool if you could mount a camera above the game so everyone can see the gameplay on the big screen.

Really, though just tweaking the existing show would be enough.

Here's an idea.

Each day pick a random game that keeps scores and names.

At the end of each day the person with the highest score on that game gets a free Gamewarp tee shirt.

LOL that would be something!!

I offered up my laser projector and LazyMAME setup for next year, thought some people might be interested in that... lets you play old vector based games using a laser projector for your output...

ex tempest on lazymame

Some fun with Space Fury on Mike's LazyMame

the flicker is not that bad in real life, it just messes with video cameras

Expanded tournaments next year, definitely! Some plans afoot for that already. I think a walk-up tournament is a good idea. Probably have one game setup for the entire weekend, highest score on Sunday wins something. We were going to do that this year but its one of those things that just kinda fell by the wayside in the chaos of getting the show going. We'll be a lot better prepared next year as we sorta/kinda know what we're doing now :)

We're hoping to do something with our champions. I think that would be really cool!

The lasermame is totally awesome, we will make that happen next year for sure. I think just logistically we didn't have time to get the proper setup this year but we've obviously got time to work on that for next year.

My hopes, as I have expressed to those kind enough to lend in an ear, are silent auctions and giveaways.

The giveaways tie to the tournaments, high scores, etc. Daily, Weekly, People love winning stuff.
All the tournament posts and ideas are great!

Imagine the public ad that states, "Win a free pinball machine" Should get a few more people....

A raffle of some kind, as Curly did NIB, or any game could be a thought.
and I am 100% behind a silent auction that runs all three days. there should be a way to not be present and win, maybe.

The kind staff that picks up the games in the first place, can offer fee based delivery schedule that could recoup costs.
Imagine 50 games or more from our board that we want to get rid of, post the lowest price, and the winner pays for the delivery.

I would definetly bring pins for this method, I think others would bring more games, and that low price, board price would be clearly posted and only go up from there.

No bidders, lower your price. % goes to the Jack and Mick Whiskey Foundation!

How about a silent auction  on the games that are available for sale?

Rather then a high price to catch a public fish.

Rather then a rush, where we all know each other, We post the lowest starting price, and have a weekend to bid.....

Works pretty good......

not sure if possible but would be good to have a separate room close to the main room for hanging out/talking/eating/ drinking away from the noise of the main room.

Can be tough to actually converse with anyone with all the noise in the main room so last year most of that was done loitering out in the hallway or elsewhere. Plus it was way too far last year to go get a drink or something..

extra room could also double as a late night live music or DJ area for anyone who wants to be there for that otherwise I would say no music in the main room since people are there to play the games not listen to music.

Now get off my lawn!!!  :P

We'll have a 2nd panel room again this year, when nothing is going on folks are welcome to loiter!

THe new hotel has a couple of nice spots to chat. There's a great atrium a few steps away with tons of benches and such.. nice for the smokers :)
