I haven't in years but my grandparents were big time and I grew up with it. They had a 50ft tower behind their house and a Golden Eagle which is from what I heard a very expensive unit but that was years ago. In high school we had them in our cars but that was 20+ years ago. They were fun but now-a-days I don't think you'll find many people using them.

Yes the Eagle is still around, the 500 talks very well on the AM bands and is a great radio. You would be shocked at the number of radio users out there still!!!

I use the new Cobra 29 LX (scan feature is great), swing kit and RX-75 with a Wilson 5000 Antenna in my mobile. doesn't seem like much but it swings 75-100 watts without an amp! And pulls in signals very, very well.
It also skips very good which is fun!

um, 26.965 ~ 27.405 is 11m , Channel 19 being 27.185Mhz operating anything outside this band is a violation (aka freebanding)

12m is 24.890-24.990mhz, and for licensed radio users only.
10m is 28.000-29.700mhz, and for licensed radio users only. (tech class can use a portion now)

Apparently people say "good neighbor" now. I guess "good buddy" is old school.
