I agree that the plastics do not look right.  I was not suggesting that the plastics were good and you were being unreasonable, I hope you did not get that impression.

Not to beat on a dead horse, but I advise you to please reach out to them and see if your set was misprinted in some way.  My hope is that you got a set where there was some imperfection in the printing process, and they can replace with a new set with the printing correct/sharper.   While they should check every set prior to sending them out, they simply may not, and an error could slip through.  I know that they have printing issues sometimes as they sell seconds when they find sub-par printing, but they label them as seconds.  I can not see any harm in sending them some pictures and expressing your concerns and seeing if the set you got was typical.  Nothing to lose.

Good luck

Hi Ron. No, I understood what you meant and I agree, and Im going to contact them today. Its just that I was stoked about finally recieving them after being on the search for a new set for a year now, and then the crash of unwrapping them to find that.

Ill be keeping the set if theyre all like that, hell, mine are faded to the point that they look out of place on the game, and at least the colors are right. CPR is the only place to get them. Hopefully its a bad set, but I heard bad things about thier last SI run, probably the reason for the disclaimer on thier SI page

What Mikes talking about, I had this overlay to put on there, and I had an automotive printing place tell me that he could a hi res 1:1 scan of it and print some quality overlays for me, for other people. I had him go ahead and print and install one.

When I picked it up, instead of scanning it (as I was told) he had took a picture of it with a digital camera and blew it up to fit the playfield. I was fuzzier than the plastics. Took me several days to remove that mess.

that is a real shame. blurry, the colors arent even close to correct. if i was them id be embaressed to sell them as "my" product. kinda disturbing they wuld pass those off and expect NOT to get dissapointed customers.
but then again, this IS the United States where quality control seems to be so unimportant.

oops ok my bad.....but the point is still the same. at lest i think so, if you cant market a quality item its gonna get out and potential customers arent gonna want to buy your stuff if they think there is a good chance it just isnt gonna be up to the customers expectations!

i've seen CPR "seconds" first hand, and they are ridiculously nice.

they'll take care of you, i'm sure. i really can't tell new from old, and that shouldn't be the case.

Maybe after 15 Molson's they look in focus?

Yesterday I sent CPR the pictures and asked if I got a bad set or if they all were fuzzy like this and got thier reply this morning

SI plastics are CMYK photographic (paintings) so they cannot be redrawn as shapes and colors.  NOS originals are scanned, and are split to new films (become second generation) as new "dots" for the 4 new ink layers.  The second generation can only achieve around 70% resolution of the original "dots".  Originals were around 110 lines per inch.  The reproductions are 87 lines per inch.

I've never seen originals that look like yours.  Most fade out to grey-looking.  Yours turned bright blue/green.  Wow.

I didnt ask for a refund, simply because I have to have them. I would gladly send them back to exchange for a better set, but if theyre all like this then why bother.  :( My originals look extremely out of place because of the color change, I was mainly interested in knowing if this quality was par for the course on this run

as long as I dont put my glasses on everythings out of focus so they look right :o

that info should be put on the pre-order page for SI plastics.

+1

I'm not that technically savvy when it come to graphic design(or anything for that matter) but I know there has to be a way to make 1:1 reproductions... obviously it's easier said then done though. Even though they are a little blurry buying the set seems almost worth it for the topper that is included  ;D

topper made it worth it, if you don't get right up on the plastics 'look in the playfield leaning on or something, its almost not noticable. he just needs to add some light condoms all over it.

Basically they did it the lazy crap way.

they did not feel like redoing the art, so they just scanned it, and printed it.

Wow, surprised 70% resolution is acceptable. That sucks.
