Thanks to f49 for starting this on the <sniff> original Village:
Iron Man - It was very solid - I would even invoke 'spider-man' good. Robert Downey Jr. did a great job as Tony Stark. The bad guy turn was very, very predictable but otherwise a good film.
Speed Racer - The biggest box office bomb of the summer was actually pretty good. I think the Wochoski's succeeded in making a live action cartoon. It's a shame so few people were able to go with it.
Prince Caspian - The Narnia kids return to Narnia and kill a bunch of things. Overall I thought it was better than the first one.
Indiana Jones - The biggest dissapointment of the summer for me. This movie was only able to capture a very small amount of the magic from the previous films. very mediocre. I'll stick with the ending of 'Last Crusade' as Indy's finale thank you.
Kung Fu Panda - Didn't see it, heard from my friend with a 7 year old that it was very good though.
Zohan - Wouldn't have gone but had free tickets. Probably the best Adam Sandler movie in years but what does that really mean? A good rental.
The Happening - Really, really bad reviews even from sites favorable to M.Night made me rethink this one. With so many movies out there I'll wait to rent this and hope its not as bad as it probably is.
Incredible Hulk - Good, surprisingly good actually. Makes up for the previous mess. As good as you could probably make a Hulk movie. Highly recommended.
Get Smart - Still on the fence here, reviews have been good. Plus, Mel Brooks was apparently kept in the loop on this which makes me feel a lot better about it.
Wall-E - The reports are this is the best Pixar film yet. While it's still not on my 'must see' list i'm going to try.
Wanted - Angelina Jolie in a graphic novel adaptation I know little about. I have yet to see more marketing than a poster so I'm not sure about this one. Jolie is nice on the eyes, but i'm not an uber fan.
Hancock - The premise to this one still sounds pretty cool and I like Will Smith in theory so this is another film i'll try to see.
Hellboy II - This is a must see for me. I liked the first one but am hoping this one might up the ante ala Blade II.
The Dark Knight - Another must see, although it will be hard to top the Marvel adaptations already released this summer.
Step Brothers - Another Will Farrell movie where he plays a child-like idiot? No thanks.
The X-Files - If it were 1998 instead of 2008 i'd be all over it, but it isn't and I'm not. This is a netflix movie.
Mummy 3 - The trailer on this one looked suprisingly good, I think i'll check this one out after all. Despite the pretty long length of time since the last one, hopefully this will still be good.
Clone Wars - Must see, if it's half as good as the Cartoon Network show it will be good.
Tropic of Thunder - Looks stupid. I'll just re-watch 'The Three Amigos' which has a similiar plot and probably be better off. Robert Downey Jr in Blackface? WTF?
Whew! It's been a summer. I really think 2008 is more packed out than in summer in recent memory. I really wish we still had some discount theaters around to catch some of the good lesser titles on second run.
