Damn that Dr Dude!!!! what next?

ok.......a different thread another problem!!! I don't THINK this is magnet related, but here it is! While I was on here pecking away, I thought I would try out Dr Dude again. I push the start button and plunge the ball................No flippers(well the one on the right side moves half way up in slow motion) no sling shots, and no pop outs! the balls are in there still at this moment.  just the top half of the machine is working. There is a click coming from the board on far right, there is this clear relay there and you can see it and hear it click. the numbers on the top of the relay on the board are D23 and on the side of the relay on the board its RL Y1. And the magnet at this time is not working either. I don't think the problem is there unless its a DIFFERENT type of problem there. Anyway its not over heating and holding on to the ball. *************** I just walked away and powered up the game.............for the heck of it.........no changes......it still clicks and I noticed that 2 of the flashers are flashing with the click............Man...........what next??? maybe I better talk Dona into unloading this game????

Ok............it must be the little board!!!!! I pulled the connector and put another f7 fuse in.we are good again. but have to leave the mag disconnected

It's probably time to start looking further back towards the Aux Power Driver and CPU (Q15 and Q11), U17 (7408) or one of the associated caps or a resistor network. Possibly all the way back to the PIA.

Basically, it's not just the board near the magnet that's letting go.  It's probably the result of another issue on another board.

It also probably means that whoever is going to repair it, will need the machine to check certain components when it flakes out.  I know you were trying to avoid lugging the machine around but since you're in the transportation business...LOL!

thank god I am in the transportation business!!!! That is how I get these games around! I have several SUVs in my fleet. Its still a pain to move them around. Pinz is lucky lol.........he just calls his boys in to move them! :P And as for the Dude.......no magnet for awhile :'( I'll just wait until I host a pin party and maybe some one will bring their medical bag full of stuff and Scope it out.......... :roll:

I was hoping Hamster's repair was going to solve your problem. It's frustrating. I wish I could help with the tech stuff but I'm in the same boat as you and just enjoy playing them!
