So... are Pops events not a thing anymore, besides stuff that happens at The Pinball Lounge?

It certainly seems to have slowed down a lot with the competition/tournaments at The Pinball Lounge going on throughout the year.

Maybe this is an opportunity for those with smaller collections to host some get-togethers without the tournament part. We wouldn't have to worry about having enough machines for full on tournaments. And those with less than the 4 required for tournament play could host a couple hour event/party instead of the full afternoon/evening events we have been having.

Short and sweet, 2-3 hours with a potluck or pizza, bring the kids, etc. Just a thought. Any feedback would be nice. I would like to see more POPs events too and could possibly host a small event myself if this is something that shows interest.

As the coordinator for FLiPS, and talking with our members over the years, hosting an event is a LOT of work on various levels.

I greatly appreciate every event our members past and present have offered, and I and several other members help behind the scenes month after month to keep things running smoothly.

Having a public venue to play takes the burden off finding a private host month after month.  Replay Museum and The Pinball Lounge provide great opportunities for clubs.

There is however, a certain charm and enjoyment to a private event and there is no doubt that if somebody says "I am hosting an event", people will show up.  Finding players to play pinball, drink soda, eat snacks and pizza, burgers etc. is EASY.  Finding hosts is more difficult.

If a person offers to host, treat them and their games with extra respect, and do whatever you can to help them.  More importantly if you are a collector in that club/region, the best thing you can do for your club is return the favor and offer to host at your place.

Hey All,

POPS never went away, we just have very few hosts and it has been easier to run the events at the Pinball Lounge.

That said, we have been slacking on running a monthly event and we want to get them going again! The next event will be on August 20th from 3pm-9pm at The Pinball Lounge. All you can play for $10. There will also be two tournaments that are free to pay with your entry fee.

3:30pm: Ancient City Satellite Tournament. Open to unranked players and those ranked over 45th place in the state. Winner gets free entry to all of the Ancient City Pinball Rumble tournaments tasking place in St Augustine at Anastasia Lanes on September 16-18.

6pm: IFPA Pops Tournament open to all!

I'll have an official announcement in a separate thread soon.

See y'all soon!
