As the coordinator for FLiPS, and talking with our members over the years, hosting an event is a LOT of work on various levels.
I greatly appreciate every event our members past and present have offered, and I and several other members help behind the scenes month after month to keep things running smoothly.
Having a public venue to play takes the burden off finding a private host month after month. Replay Museum and The Pinball Lounge provide great opportunities for clubs.
There is however, a certain charm and enjoyment to a private event and there is no doubt that if somebody says "I am hosting an event", people will show up. Finding players to play pinball, drink soda, eat snacks and pizza, burgers etc. is EASY. Finding hosts is more difficult.
If a person offers to host, treat them and their games with extra respect, and do whatever you can to help them. More importantly if you are a collector in that club/region, the best thing you can do for your club is return the favor and offer to host at your place.
