Not listen to the local fear mongers (news) and wet my pants over a storm that's at least 4 days from Cuba.  ;)

not doing a thing.  not even paying attention until thursday, if that.

the worst storms are the ones they don't predict or track. harvey was supposed to hit texas as only a weak tropical storm.

2 best computer models can't even agree on irma. one has it turning 100% north, the other has it sweeping slightly south.

yesterday, north carolina was in the danger zone. saturday, it was new york.

We lost our home to Wilma, so we’re keeping an eye out. I don’t recommend getting all riled up, but always pay attention.  Given our past experience, we have all of our supplies already.

Just a little side note from my father, a public insurance adjuster.

As most of you know, I am a Public Adjuster, I work for homeowners and business owners, against the insurance companies.
Just a heads up to everyone. Before the storm you should walk around your house or business and video, both inside and outside. This one may veer off, as they sometimes do, but just in case, this will eliminate the argument from the insurance companies that damage was pre-existing. Also keep your policy info together for easy access. If this does hit, the response time will not be great for most, so take pictures of any damage that occurs. This is your best ammunition for getting things settled, without too much aggravation. Make sure your prep is done early, and be ready for no power for an extended amount of time.  If anyone encounters a problem with their insurance company, or has questions, please feel free to call or message me.
  Everyone stay safe!

Dang it, another storm...It rains twice a day now.

1-866-9-NO-SCAM to report price gouging, like uh, gas going up again because they can.  If we have not had a shipment of gas from Texas since last week, the current gas we are using are from the storage tanks stored there months ago.  Why do they charge us .75 cents more???

Gouging which is sanctioned, plain and simple.
I monitor commodity prices including world crude and the prices have remained flat if gone down over past 2 weeks.
Since supply isn't really an issue (anyone not able to get gas anywhere in past 2 weeks?)
And demand isn't up except only in a few regions prices should not rise but they are at the pump.

Now speculation is driving prices up.  People getting screwed again.

We are prepared and will stay if it's a Category 4 or less by this weekend.  BUT ....If it's a Category 5 we would definitely evacuate!  I drove through Homestead, FL in 1992 after Hurricane Andrew hit.  It looked like a bomb went off.  From I-95 and the Florida Turnpike you could see entire subdivisions, all houses with CBS construction, where every home did not have a roof left.

I agree with what's been said, don't panic, watch and just be prepared.

Good luck to all!

It's still far enough away that we're doing that ring around the rosie snake dance bit seeing where it's going to go.

I'm hoping it just strafes the tip of Florida and doesn't hit us full on.
