Game of Thrones -- Also Spoilers
« on: April 28, 2019, 11:57:59 PM »
Overall good epic episode, lots of fog.. probably to save money.

Biggest complaint? What the fuck good is Jon Snow? He's their chosen one dude but he was pretty useless this episode. Would like to see him do something a bit more heroic in this last season. We already know Arya is a competent bad ass, give Jon Snow something to do.

Maybe in the 2nd half i guess.

I agree.

I loved it but it was disjointed at times.
I know we have to suspend some belief in reality.

Dragon fights were epic.
Hoard assault was epic.
The overall fight and battle tactic plan was flawed from the beginning.
I was surprised to see the main baddie go down this episode.
I guess that's it for the Nightwalkers and undead threat?
Winterfell was it?

Now on to Cersei and the Iron Island Punk?

8 seasons of building up the nightwalkers for nothing IMO. Very stupid to just end it like that. I was expecting a showdown with nightking, maybe some clues as to him being targarian or something

Yeah I wanted to see a better pay off to the Night Walkers. Some revelation about their origins or their place in the world.. not just 'well, they are zombies' which is basically what we got.

I think Game of Thrones is a good show. It's occasionally a great show but overall it's still just a good show. Episodes like this really drive that home.

I'm wondering if Arya is going to either become a new Night Queen or use the Night King's face?  Their armies are decimated.  They need some way to quickly replenish the troops.

No chances are that was it for the white walkers and they'll just move on to fighting cersi.

Maybe arya can kill cersi too?

There have been multiple Night Kings.  We only saw how the first one was made.  There could be a transfer of his power to the one that kills him.  It's possible anyway.  They don't need White Walkers.  Wights can kill just fine.

I think that's just characters misinterpreting prophecy again; that has been a running theme. The whole "Prince who was promised" (real chosen one) thing is probably going to be his and Danny's incest baby.

90%+ chance it'll be Jaime that takes her out.

Yeah, I think the White Walkers are done for the series, and probably all the face-stealing stuff too. This whole season has been more straightforward, simply because they've only got 6 episodes and have to wrap everything up.

The White Walkers being wiped out felt abrupt, but on the other hand they did devote an entire, extended-length episode to just that one battle scene - one of only 6. No cuts back to King's Landing to see what Cersi is plotting, no big flashbacks, nothing but the battle.

The main thing that felt off to me was how few major characters died. About 5? And calling 3 of those major is a stretch.

Jorah - the foreshadowing in the prior episode was strong. His whole speech about how Tyrion is the right person to be her "hand" really sealed it. "I'm a good person now, so I can die."

Theon - he was just completely out of story.

The other 3 were pretty borderline; Ed? (whatshisname from the wall), The "Little Bear" and the guy who kept getting resurrected but lost the other guy who resurrected him (so you could kind of see that one coming).

Anyone else I forgot?

Every single peasant and farmer in the North seems to be dead now, that's gonna cause some issues...

Anyone else confused how or why "John Wick" bad ass Arya (in the courtyard tearing all the zombies to pieces) was cowering in the Library to a few slumbering zombies who were looking around confused?
Why all of a sudden was she afraid when she was killing them with reckless abandon before.
Made no sense to me.

It felt off, they didn't make it clear enough but I think the idea was that she was already pretty beaten up and exhausted, she could easily take out any one or two of them at a time but didn't want to get rushed by a bunch at once. If she could control the area, like a narrow hallway, it was fine, but in a larger open room where she could get attacked from multiple sides at once... different story. Plus she had no backup at all in there.

The tonal shift definitely felt off though.

Also, only one zombie giant? I'm 99% sure they had a shot showing the army of the undead in season 7 that showed at least 3 giants.
