What The Heck?
« on: December 20, 2020, 12:01:06 PM »
I got this email from eBay today. In my eBay account email, not as spam.
I don't even know what they are talking about. It's not even referencing what I did wrong...
I hope the PDF attaches.

Ebay is really acting like a "fucktard" lately.. They side with the scammers alot of the times and the legit sellers get screwed.. I will give them one more time to piss me off and I will delete my ebay account .. Their fees make it more of a deterrent anymore so I will find other ways like local boards like this one..

If you feel this is in error, give them a call.

Then, when you reach an overseas rep, ask to be transferred to a US Supervisor, or Manager.
Dont stop, until you get someone with Authority.

Whether Ive battled Fedex, Ebay, etc, I dont always win against BS, but I have always and only had success with persistent escalation.

my 2 cents.

call ebay and threaten to sue them. locally. they'll need to fly lawyers to your county.

lol. it works. they fold every time i pull this stunt  :P

we also need more info...what did you buy? what was wrong? what did you return?

what was the value? ebay will pay $250 a year to shut a buyer/seller dispute up. out of ebay's pocket. a rep goofed once and told me this.

if you go to that "policy"  page, they should reinstate your account.

ebay LOVES the buyer. hates the seller. so a simple phone call should get you up and running, and the seller should be dealing with what you are now, as a false report, if i understand what happened.

ebay's internal structure is fubar'd to say the least. for a decade, they had one dude handling disputes.

It was that Toyota transmission I bought on eBay.

Mechanic said it was wrong one when he saw it, seller said it would work, even after I called them and asked on phone so I told mechanic to go ahead. Completed the install.

So I started a dispute with eBay and of course seller said they'd take it back and I said sure, come to FL to pay the mechanic to take it out of the car and it's yours. I'm already out $675 for the labor and $475 for the wrong or malfunctioning transmission.

So I got tired of waiting on eBay(3 weeks)  and called my credit card and started a dispute. Got a temporary credit that went official.

I will send the transmission back when I get it out of the car. I'll call them and see if they still want it. But they shipped me a U140F and  the car had a U241E in it. But they said it would work. They do this all the time with this transmission in a Rav4 2WD.

After a while I took it to Toyota dealer to confirm issue, to have some standing against seller. They called it "internal transmission failure", another $160.00 for this checkout.

seller lost their money and had no transmission.

so they filed a dispute with eBay. eBay looked at the very basics...you got refunded, but no tracking on the return of the transmission.

so yes, unfair. mail the seller a rock. then you have tracking. eBay is dumb enough to allow that as credit that you returned something.

you'll get sued. but ebay did their job.

seriously, call eBay. they'll tell you what they want to get your account back in good standing. or open up another account. i have 10+...

good luck. used auto parts are always a crap shoot. you can sue them, but auto cases like yours won't yield you much cash, unless you can prove the place told you "this tranny will work"

then you have a good case that you paid money relying on their statements of use of goods.

So they sold you a 4WD trans-axle in place of a 2WD one. Seems like it could work after Goggling foe 30 seconds (not a deep dive for sure). So is the problem that the supplied trans-axle is bad?

so comes down to a plain bad used transmission. junkyard pulled transmission, probably from a front end wreck. they "assumed" it was good. it wasn't.  :)

4wd, 2wd, doesn't matter.

From what I understand from used transmissions (engines, etc.) you by them, you install them, if they are bad the yard will take them back for a certain amount of time but you are on the hook for any instillation fees, fluids, etc. My guess is the fine print indicated that the seller was under no obligation to "come to FL to pay the mechanic to take it out of the car and it's yours". I could be wrong of course, it's been many years since I bought a used transmission. Back in the 80's helped a buddy swap out 5 transmissions before we got a good one. By the time we got the 5th one in we were down to 45 min for the swap  ;D (F100 with a 390 and C6 transmission)

Rule #1 when buying something from a JunkYard...

REBUILD IT.. your buying a CORE in UNKNOWN condition, Assume it doesn't work.

never bring parts to a transmission shop and have them install them, they won't work, ever..  don't even think they will.. doesn't matter how honest they are, unless its your family member and your helping install it, whatever part you brought them, will not work.. ever... even if it IS the right part..

Why didn't the transmission shop rebuild your existing transmission?? They should of had the skillset or a way to outsource the rebuild ?

In hindsight, that's what I should have done but this was about a grand cheaper. Now I'm paying.

All these transmissions are 50,000-60,000 miles from Japan, imported, pulled due to strict control on older cars emissions (so I'm told)
JDM all over eBay..went to eBay chat mode for help. These guys act like I stole the crown jewels. I thought the buyer was protected, not the seller so much. Well the seller must have lied to eBay and got me suspended. Can't buy anything on there now..

phone call. you'll get thru. fight the power.

some places in the US do import 50,000KM stuff from japan all the time. japan seems to take vehicles with 50,000KM off the road, religiously.

great for us JDM culture lovers. but even then, it doesn't mean all of their crap works. too many hands in the apple pie, so to speak.

i don't know your mechanic, but he could have forgotten to add the correct fluid, and bamm. dead tranny. they're supposed to ship dry.

anything toyota is pretty damm bulletproof. so as hamster alluded to, i also wonder why your mechanic won't rebuild what they had in front of them.

i blame no one. cuz you just can't do it. but, i learned to do all car work myself, because bluntly...i trust no one, but myself. and there are a TON of turds who say they're mechanics. :)

eBay is a conglomerate of b.s...but they DO love the buyer, so spin it on the seller, and you'll be fine.

or open up a fake account. i can see if i can still do that. i have to speak mandarinsneeze to hook it up with ebay.co.med.nz.
