WCS94 Soundboard - Snap, Crackle & Pop
« on: February 20, 2025, 10:07:18 AM »
The DCS soundboard in my WCS is acting up.
I swapped in my DCS soundboard from Popeye and no issues so I know it's related to the WCS soundboard.
I've read that snipping (2) caps on the soundboard, C37 and C45, have been know to cause this issue noise issue and provide remedy if clipped.
I've attached a quick video of what it does:

Well I clipped those two cap leads and no difference. Still getting Snap,Crackle and Pop...Mostly POP!!! Loud as heck in Volume 8 which
proabably has no bearing on what;s happening here.
I swapped in my Popeye DCS soundboard into WCS as a test.
The DCS soundboard from Popeye works fine in WCS , for hours..No issues.
So what's the logical repair approach? Caps? The DSP Chip itself?

could be a multitude of problem, probably need to send off for repair.

those boards are very finicky when it comes to removing components.

also, a lot of those parts are unobtainable.

I fix things.. all the things.. but you have reach out first to see how my queue looks. ( all things arcade/pinball/computer ) ... do not do house calls, repairs are generally live streamed on twitch.

Yep. Clive has done many repairs for me but none in the last 5-6 years. Good guy.
I've used Chris Hibler as well from Pinside. Another great guy!!

I'm pretty sure I have one from an STTNG if you need.

Thanks ..Will let you know but I have high confidence in Clive.
It'll be a few weeks till I get it back but I have a few other pins to play in the meantime. :)
In fact, I was just getting ready to offer WCS for trade or sale. Probably will list it when the soundboard returns.
