REVIEW : THUNDERBOLTS *

THUNDERBOLTS *

(The * for it somehow doesn't suck apparently..)

I'm not going to lie I wrote this one off. A team-up with a group of characters from shit movies that nobody really cared about? This isn't a Guardians of the Galaxy situation.. this is a known quantity and the quantity sucks.

However much to my shock the movie is pretty good. In fact it ranks in the elite class of good post-Endgame marvel movies.. which up until this point I'd count only 2 others.. Spider-Man and Guardians 3. Shang She was above average. Everything else was OK or shit.. mostly the latter.

The cast is pretty good here. In a few cases the characters were somewhat likable despite their source movie/show being garbage. With better writing that comes out and you actually get invested (shock!). There's a story here which centers around rejection and self-worth which ties in well with the assorted group of cast off heros.. very meta. I even enjoyed the ending which eschewed the blue sky lazer for something a bit more intimate.

It's funny when it needs to be, the pacing is fine.. the action sequences are surprisingly well done. Somehow it cost about $200m plus marketing which means it won't make a profit but that's Disneys problem not mine.

Shockingly.. a Marvel movie recommendation here.

Let's hope the hype train keeps rolling and Fantastic Four doesn't suck as they need to turn this ship around. Problem is too many people have bailed on Disney so even the odd good movie that accidentally slips out still bombs. They'll need a few Thunderbolts to get back in the game and maybe stop spending money like everything they release hits the 1BN mark.. those days evaporated in a puff of woke smoke long ago.

OK.. if this a decent superhero movie maybe I'll check it out, not like there are great choices out there now anyways.

Will admit that I don't follow the superhero stuff and wont know fuckall of the backstory here...

I have seen a few of the Marvel movies over the years but cant even remember which ones (outside of the Iron Man movies which I thought were good). I literally remember nothing about any other one I've seen.  :P

I agree with six here.  Thunderbolts I was expecting something more middling but it actually does scratch at the upper tier and for the first time in a while you get the feeling something real is being set up.

I feel if the had casted someone other than Florence Pugh  , it would of not been as good, she really made the movie enjoyable.

I saw it... it was an OK movie.

At least it didn't look like compilation of shitty video game fights like most superhero movies.

Its perfect for the younger generation because we now have these insecure, anxiety riddled "superheros" they can relate to as they vape and take 5 prescription drugs.  :P

Saw it last night.  It's good but I wouldn't say it's "upper tier."
It's enjoyable and held my interest although the plot was very simple sometimes being silly (which is fine and doesn't need to be too complex).
The characters were all mostly enjoyable especially Pugh and David Harbour.
I would recommend it.
FF4 to me looks like it's going to be goofy, though, but we'll see. Anything has to be better than the last trash they gave us.

eh pretty low bar if everyone is over the moon because its not a total piece of shit like most of the Marvel stuff. It was OK..

I didn't get the premise of I'm evil and going to take over the world but....  really all I really need is a hug and Ill stop.  :P

Is that a Marvel thing?

Realize that part of the superhero thing is they are flawed people etc but that seemed a bit much to pussify an "evil" character that much.

Last 'Upper Tier' Marvel was probably Spider-Man.. but even that was mostly just memberberries but it did work.

Thunderbolts is legitimately good though.. even if its not BEST AVAH!!!1! good it's still good which puts it well ahead of most of the post-endgame films which has just been meh at best.
