MI:Final Reckoning
« on: June 14, 2025, 10:14:06 AM »
I've tried to book seats this weekend at The Grove 16 but sold out or single seats only ( in the plush seats). Must be still doing well. Surprised no review here on it. Anyone seen it that would like to comment? I just re-watched the first part the other night to prep myself for part 2. I can't  remember seeing any Tom Crusie movie I didn't like in the last twenty years.

Reviews weren't great but I think at this point they spend so much money making these movies they will keep them in theaters for as long as possible.

Plus there isn't much else out there to run if you own a theatre. It's still playing in my market but half sold or less every showing (even on the weekend).

Hollywood has been out of ideas for a while since no one really gives a shit about "movie stars" anymore. They have no clue what to do since you cant just bank on people showing up for crap movies that are half baked because whatever star is in it. Those days are long gone..

Tom Cruise is over 60 and they think people will flock to the theatre to see him do some stunts so they can say "wow thats impressive an old fucker would do that"?  :P

These movies have no real plot so they rely on the star to carry the weight and frankly nobody cares anymore....

And as I say with every new movie it is way too long... I am sure it's well made and I would bother to see it if it wasn't 3 hours of my life Ill never get back.

I will interject a side note here, un-related to MI 60, but related to Cruise 60...

There's a mostly great new show called POKER FACE on peacock, created by the guy that did Knives Out, Glass Onion etc.
It's a homage to Peter Falk's Columbo show, and lead Natasha Lyonne pretty much just copies him 96% of the time.
It follows Columbo's structure of having medium-level 'name' actors setting up the crime that she later solves.
ANYways, I was watching a recent episode from season 2 and said "HOLY SHIT! Is that ex-Mrs-Tom-Cruise Katie Holmes?!?!?!"
It was, and I would not have recognized her if I passed her on the sidewalk.
