Looks pretty good! Has spooky turned a corner? Haven't played Evil Dead but obviously that go great reviews.

Ouch! Good news for the other manufacturers, Spooky has limited the production to 999 CE machines (sold out).

This is exactly what pinball machines should look like in 2025... Not flat printed plastics and Pez dispenser heads stuck on slingshots to make it "premium".

Congrats to all that got one!

Wow that looks great.

Anyone in Orlando getting a Winchester, Beetlejuice, AND Evil Dead? You should throw a party.

If you missed out, they will be bringing some to Pinball at the Beach.  The show games will potentially not be numbered but they are making extras for show purposes.... so might be worth looking into if your interested in still trying to snag one.

Gotta say I'm not a fan of this new tactic of not manufacturing enough games to meet initial demand. I've seen that in a lot of different collector markets and it just causes everything to increase in price due to scalpers.

Unless the license says they can only make XXX machines it doesn't make sense to me. Why move onto another game when you still have people lined up to buy the previous one.

creates a false value of FoMo as well.

but foremost, they need to fix their website: it can't even handle 1/2 the traffic they get.

there were 7 ads on Pinside for Beetlejuice 20 minutes after it went live on spooky.

they sold out in an estimated 15 minutes.

but it's a crap shoot...you can still buy a new LE texas chainsaw massacre :P

I would assume they only have the facilities to make so many for one thing.... not everyone is Stern who can churn out way more product.

Also if their machines sell out they are truly "boutique" and that math works every time. Much better than trying to please everyone or be all things to all people.

FOMO works sadly.

Places use it for pizza in NYC... get some buzz for being good, then open a few hours a day and or limit the number of units sold a day so people feel "special" when they get one. Every social media addled dipshit will stand in line for 2 hours just to get a pizza.  :P

They set a limit of 888 on Evil Dead and it took about 4 months to sell out.  Their previous games had limits of 800 each and didn't sell out.  Scooby was over 1600 units and didn't sell out.

The problem with BJ release was that they allowed distros to take orders for it almost a month in advance before it was even revealed, so on launch day they had only 80 machines to sell left over.  Spooky said they will not let this happen next time, they never had distros take orders for their games before the reveal date and didn't mandate that no preorders were allowed.  Pinballstars began selling the game and other distros all started to do the same after them.

FOMO crowd will always ruin things sadly, folks buying games just to flip em ruins the fun for those just wanting to enjoy pinball.

Hats off to Spooky to not pushup the price even if they knew it was sold out before reveal.
And to make BJ right after ED  :o
On the other end, asking for a non refundable deposit for the topper without clearly stating the final price kinda sucks imo.
Now let's see if anniversary edition of their 2 recent hits happens in the future.

If they have the facilities to make the thing once, they can make more of the thing. It's not like these things are made up of unique precious metals or something nor is anyone asking them to make a game from 5 years ago which might be hard to reset the tooling for.

it's definitely a FOMO thing and that sucks.

Its for sure FOMO but again as a business of that type you have to really watch your cost of materials and stock levels.

If you know exactly how many parts etc you need it limits your overhead and downside, there are tons of parts in these things all of which they have to pre-buy and those costs add up quick.

Worst case for any company like this is you "assume" you can sell way more than you actually do and get stuck with tons of overheard and parts you don't need. Great way to go out of business...

I am sure they ran the numbers and went with caution... these are how many we know we can sell so let's do that and take less risk in other words.

They have stated they don't want to keep growing, they have expanded several times but they want to stay boutique.  They take over a year to produce around 1k games, in comparison stern does this in one week.  They are small family company in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin and they are not looking to scale further.  Can make more?  Sure, they attempted this with several games and they didn't sell out.  They scaled back heavily, and again, they didn't sell out.  They sold out of Evil Dead, but it still took 4 months to do that and that was only 888 units.  Bettlejuice was a first time for them selling out so fast in years and they raised production number over Evil Dead.  More are gonna be made for show games, so I think the estimate was maybe another 90 some units will be in circulation unnumbered and sold at shows.

Spooky already has their four next games in production and want to release one game a year, if they don't want to scale up their business much more, we are going to see what happens.  Of course if they put out a dud suddenly everyone will abandon the love they got going, like after Halloween release and the backlash they got from that, folks said never again.  Took a while to rebuild their rep I feel
